My
paintings represent a visual paradox of landscape and body.
They are a personal integration of 'myself' within the
landscape.
They are
a celebration of the environment, identity, and female
strength.

I don’t like waste of any kind. Metal bound for the scrap
bin is perfect for my work. I have developed a natural
talent to make my sculptures increasingly more lifelike. I
want to capture the characteristics of the creatures which
unwittingly model for me.

I am
drawn inescapably to the immediate moment in which a
specific seasonal light gives vitality and mystery to a
familiar landscape or domestic space. Perspective, scale
and colour are not simply those the eye sees. Lines
skipping across the surface may guide viewers in, or gesture
towards another plane beyond.

Although
trained as a painter, since moving to Somerset seven years
ago, printmaking has become my passion. I find the process
of making a print is always challenging and exciting. Much
of my work is landscape based, the patterns made by sky,
land, water and trees being my main inspiration.

From my very first beginnings in watercolour it was
evident that its textual qualities were a fascination. By
exploring different techniques I now use them to represent
the beautiful landscape surrounding me in Somerset, the
light, atmosphere and my passion of trees.
